The Lubricant Condition Monitoring Package, based on equipment-specific test packages performed on a lubricant sample, provides comprehensive insights into the condition of the lube or hydraulic oil. The tests conducted confirm whether the correct lube or hydraulic oil as specified is used (collative assessment of viscosity, molecular spectroscopic spectra, TAN/TBN and additive elements); monitor and trend the lube or hydraulic oil’s base stock degradation (in terms of viscosity, TAN and FTIR oxidation, nitration and sulphation) and additives depletion;
Such pertinent information is essential for maintenance engineers to progress from timebased to pro-active condition-based maintenance practices in order to achieve the following benefits:
1. prolonging equipment useful life (extending Mean-Time-Between-Failure).
2. optimising oil change interval (based on the oil’s condition).
3. maximising equipment availability.
4. enhancing high reliability, plant safety and production quality.
5. reducing maintenance and repair costs.
The recommendations given in the Lubricant Condition Report have the benefits of the expertise, experience and database of METALUX's Industry Tribology Laboratory. METALUX laboratory provides laboratory testing and analysis on scheduled lubricant samples to diagnose and monitor machine wear condition and lubricant condition.
